Diabetes and ADHD drugs to be tested on Alzheimer's patients in new study
A UK clinical trial called AD-SMART has launched to test several repurposed drugs at once, starting with treatments for type 2 diabetes and ADHD, in the hope of speeding up new Alzheimer's treatments. The first participant, a 67-year-old from Cambridgeshire, has begun treatment, and around 1,200 people with mild to moderate Alzheimer's are expected to take part at sites across the UK.
