Conservationists are working to bring rare manx shearwaters back to the Isle of Canna, off Scotland's west coast, after rats had wiped out the colony there. Forty young birds have been moved from the nearby Isle of Rum following the removal of rats from Canna in 2005.
A Birmingham urban winery in Digbeth is turning grapes from a Herefordshire farm into wine this season. The warm, sunny year is expected to produce a strong vintage, and the Midlands is becoming more suited to winemaking.
