Peterborough City Council has approved plans to put mini-gardens of wildflowers on the roofs of 34 bus stops to support bees and other pollinators. The changes are part of a new bus stop contract that will also bring more comfortable seating and up-to-date passenger information.
Conservationists are working to bring rare manx shearwaters back to the Isle of Canna, off Scotland's west coast, after rats had wiped out the colony there. Forty young birds have been moved from the nearby Isle of Rum following the removal of rats from Canna in 2005.
