Construction of a £20m leisure centre in Deal is expected to finish before the end of 2027, with a topping out ceremony marking the highest point of the building. The new centre will include a six-lane swimming pool, a gym, fitness studios, a toddler splash pad, a cafe and a changing places toilet.

Visitors' donations have helped him raise more than £55,000 for the Macmillan cancer charity, and this year's Back to the Future-themed display was his most ambitious yet, with help from family, friends and strangers.
Oasis have donated VIP tickets to a charity auction that will raise money for the London Playing Fields Foundation, which runs seven grounds across six London boroughs. The online auction, organised by interior design company Carden Cunietti as part of The Spring Clean campaign, runs until 17 November. The foundation says its grounds bring wider benefits, including less crime and better health.
Volunteers and experts in Hampshire are searching for rare and forgotten heritage apple varieties, some of which were bred centuries or decades ago. Curators are working to preserve these local varieties in national collections and to track down lost ones.
