Two friends from Capel Bangor in Ceredigion have opened a café in the former village shop to fill a gap left after the village lost its shop and two pubs. Around 300 people came to the opening party, and the café plans to use as much local produce as possible.
A 14-year-old brass band player, Efan, and his teacher Dylan 'Corn' Williams from Seindorf Arian Deiniolen talk about how brass bands bring communities together ahead of Remembrance Sunday. Efan will play hymns with the band at the village war memorial service, and Dylan has been teaching local cornet players to play The Last Post.
Final preparations are underway for Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival, the oldest carnival in the country, with families and clubs building floats in the evenings after work. Renegades Carnival Club, founded in 1966, has around 50 members spanning several generations, with many carnival families passing the tradition down.
A small food shed on a Cheshire driveway set up in December 2024 has grown into a community hub helping about 200 people each week. Run by Gayle Parks and a team of 50 volunteers, Sutton Community Fridge rescues surplus food and sells it at low prices to families in the Macclesfield area.
