Sarah Hainsworth, a Durham University professor who helped work out the injuries that led to Richard III's death, is among 50 engineers photographed for an exhibition marking 50 years of the Royal Academy of Engineering. The 50for50 exhibition will be shown at the National Science and Media Museum in Bradford and will travel to other UK venues. The photographs aim to show young people how varied engineering careers can be.
Dartford firm MAV Systems has won Innovation of the Year at the 2026 Made in Britain Impact Awards. Its number plate recognition cameras detect cloned and disguised plates that are designed to evade traffic cameras, helping police and local authorities.
The Leonid meteor shower is set to be visible across the UK through November, peaking on 17 November with up to 10 to 15 meteors an hour. Stargazers can spot them with the naked eye from a dark, open spot away from street lights, with the best viewing expected around the mid-November peak.
Andy Davidson created the computer game Worms while still a pupil at Bournemouth School, starting with a simple tank game on a scientific calculator. The series has now sold around 70 million copies, and Worms featured on a set of British game stamps in 2020.
